Non Alcoholic Drinks To Get You In The Festive Spirit

We know that not everyone likes an alcoholic tipple and so we thought we’d put together a few non alcoholic drinks to get you in the festive spirit this Christmas 2016 which we were kindly sent to review.

ICHAI AUTHENTIC LOOSE LEAF SPICED TEA

ICHAI have created 100% natural Chai tea’s that will leave you feeling warm and festive this Christmas. Flavours include Spicy Chai, Ginger Chai, Green Cardamom Chai, Black Cardamom Chai, Vanilla Chai and Classic Chai.

Developed and created by Dr Helen Saini (PhD), who previously worked as a plant biologist developing better tasting, healthier plants for Unilever, Helen says,

“With ICHAI my aim is to make traditional chai properly, without any artificial ingredients and using the milling methods that I have spent years developing to produce and retain the best taste and aroma. The way we prepare our spices is very important. Spices are individually ground to an exact specification that delivers the optimum flavour potential for each spice – this involves using the correct machinery and grinding to the optimum particle size. These specialist methods are the the reason why ICHAI blends have such an exquisite flavour and intense aroma.”

We here at UTCT tried the Spicy Chai and were all impressed with how festive it tasted. We certainly tasted the Cinnamon and ginger in the tea and everyone said they would be happy to have a second cup of it should it be offered. This would even be good for steering cold’s and winter flu’s away!

SEEDLIP NON ALCOHOLIC SPIRITS

Seedlip have created the world’s first non alcoholic spirits which are designed to look and taste exactly like the alcoholic versions. Not only are the drinks alcohol free, they are also sugar free, sweetener free, contain no artificial flavours and are calorie free!

There are two flavours to choose from, ‘Spice 94’ which is described as ‘aromatic, earthy, woody’ and ‘Garden 108’ which is described as ‘herbal, grassy, floral’.

We asked Holly to try out the two as an alternative to alcohol on a girls night in. Holly said:

“I initially thought I would feel like the designated driver since I wasn’t really ‘drinking’ but these genuinely tasted like an alcoholic beverage. I prefer the Spice 94 which tastes a little bit smoky. I liked the bottle designs and particularly loved the fact that there are zero calories in them. In fact, there are a few cocktail ideas on their website which I might make up for the next time!”

GREAT UNCLE CORNELIUS FAMOUS SPICED GINGER

Ginger is packed full of flavour and has definitely got a ‘love it or hate it’ taste.  Great Uncle Cornelius have release this famous spiced ginger which is the perfect drink on it’s own or accompanied with Lemonade to create a Ginger Beer.

This non alcoholic refreshment is packed full of flavour and is the perfect drink for anyone who is choosing not to consume alcohol.

We asked Mandy to try it out and she said:

“I half expected this to be too bitter to drink, but actually, it was lovely! I liked it chilled and added some lemonade to it to make it a little smoother. This was actually really refreshing and I’d be happy to drink it as an alternative to alcoholic drinks”

NAUTEAS TEA

We here at UTCT are always excited when new tea’s coming popping through our mailbox.  Nauteas have released five flavours which are all combined into an ‘Office Tea Box’. Flavours include Pina Colada On The Beach, Cherry Loves Rose, Beauty Queen, Don’t make me cycle to India and The Sanctuary.

We asked Katy to try out ‘Beauty Queen’ and Elaine to try out ‘Cherry Loves Rose’.

Katy said:

“I was intrigued to try out ‘beauty queen’ because it is caffeine free and contains some really fresh and energizing ingredients such as lemongrass and mint. I left this to brew for a few minutes (and to cool slightly) and actually enjoyed it. It was fresh and tasty without being sour or overpowering. If you’re a fan of strong flavours, then I’d suggest leaving the tea in longer, but for me just a few minutes was enough. I’d try this again!”

Elaine said:

“Tea’s aren’t normally my thing. I usually just like a cup of Tetleys and milk so when I was asked to try out the ‘Cherry Loves Rose’ I was half expecting to be let down. This is caffeine free and is filled with rose and berry flavours. It’s actually really refreshing and tasty which I wasn’t expecting. Do I prefer it to a cup of Tetley’s? not really,  but this is the only fruit tea to come close!”
