Sainsbury’s Re-create World War 1 ‘Truce’ For It’s Christmas Is For Sharing Advert

Sainsbury’s has released a heart-warming ad which portrays the 1914 Christmas Day ‘truce’ in the trenches when British and German soldiers come together for a game of football, get your box of tissues at the ready!  Watch The Sainsbury’s Christmas advert below:

Throwing the gauntlet down, could this be the BEST Christmas TV advert out?  Called Christmas Is For Sharing, the whopping 3 minute ad starts with German soldiers singing Silent Night when a young British solider joins in.  Placing down his arms, Jim – the British solider, leaves his trench and walks onto No Mans Land where he greets his enemy. A truce is called and both sides share gifts and have a fun game of football.

The end of the advert (and that’s when the lump in the throat gets even bigger) Jim gives his German companion his coat to find he has shared a gift of a bar of Chocolate – Could this be better than the John Lewis Christmas ad?

Working alongside The Royal British Legion, Sainsbury’s will release the bar of Belgium (yes Belgium) chocolate for just £1 in it’s shops with all profits donated to The Royal British Legion – what a great excuse for another bar of chocolate!

Already twitter has gone into a festive frenzy with the advert, you can go online and see what everyone is tweeting by using #ChristmasIsForSharing
