Amazon UK creates 2,000 jobs in the UK

Online retail giant Amazon UK is creating 2,000 new jobs and up to 3,000 temporary jobs for over Christmas.

Amazon.co.uk has officially opened a new distribution center in Hemel Hempstead on Thursday which created 600 of the new posts, this is to climb to 2,000 by the ends of 2014.

Prime Minister David Cameron said this was “This is great news, not only for those individuals who will find work, but for the UK economy”

New positions will also include computing, human resources and management areas.

Amazon UK will also announce up to 3,000 temporary jobs which will be created over the Christmas period – as they know just how busy they will be!

“We have created thousands of jobs in the UK over the last few years and are delighted to announce that we plan to create thousands more in the next 24 months,” said Amazon UK’s MD Christopher North.

“Our recruitment team has been exceptionally busy recently hiring hundreds of employees at the Hemel Hempstead fulfillment centre, and they will certainly be busy over the next couple of years as we continue to expand to provide customers with the best possible experience.”
