Apart from Hasbro’s furby, kids tablets are also making a huge stamp with Innotab 2 and LeapPad 2 making their way onto the list, just the same as it has done on other UK retailers such as Tesco and The Entertainer.

Andrea Abbis, toys trading manager at Argos, said: “The past few years have seen technology move into the toy arena meaning the two work in tandem. Now the key to a ‘top toy’ is a physical one that can link to an online world giving them greater longevity so they can evolve and grow as children do.”

There is no surprise to see Mattel’s Batman the dark knight rises bat and Hasbro’s web shooting spider man joining the top toys list as these are two of the biggest movie launches out this summer. The new take on the old classic Twister will be a Britney Spears endorsed version – cue all the “oops i did it again” falling over jokes!

Overall Argos have picked (just like most other shops) interactive toys which reflect the way children are now interacting with tablets and electronic toys.

Richard Woolfson, leading Child Psychologist said: “Most of the toys on the list reflect the impact of the digital dimension in children’s lives, yet children will still interact with them using their imagination in traditional ways. They will invent their own adventures with the toys, make up new imaginative play sequences, extend their creativity and have great fun at the same time.”

But there remains room in the list for more traditional games such as Lego and two dolls.

You can see from the list that no toy has exceeded over £90 and there is something to suit most budgets. We have noticed just about all stores who have already announced their predicted top 10 kids toys for xmas have not exceeded any more than this figure too.
