Argos have begun the search for 9000 extra staff to help with the Christmas rush.
Around 8,000 “customer helpers” and around 1,000 drivers will be recruited over the festive season.
Initially contracts will be for three months however there is the potential for some jobs to become permanent where vacancies exist.
Argos said it will offer recruits a minimum of 12 hours a week, and six hours for weekend staff.
Steve Carson, director of retail and customer operations at Argos, said: “We need extra support in our stores and we’re looking for people who are customer focused, energetic and enthusiastic.
“For the first time, we are also seeking drivers to join our store teams and support local deliveries to customers.”
