Bring In Summer With May Day Holiday

With May Day on our doorstep on May 6th 2013, it can mean only one thing.. Summer is on its way! Finally!

While we are certain we won’t have a heat wave anytime soon, we would welcome some better weather with open arms. May Day is slightly later than normal this year, and will entitle many of us to a work-free, long weekend. Don’t go getting your sun loungers out just yet – there are plenty of things that you can do this May Day holiday to keep you and your families occupied.

Despite the fact that much of the UK is on holiday, there are many attractions and events available for the weekend. You can check your local newspapers and websites for local events in your area. Aside from that, here is a list of our favourite things to do over May Day Weekend!

Go To The Beach! So you’re probably all thinking we’ve lost our marbles. This is Britain and the weather is unpredictable at the best of times. However, with that said, the beach is a fun place to be come rain or shine! There is nothing more thrilling than watching stormy waves crash against the rocks and watch as your car is thrashed with rain! Britain is full of small beaches and coastline and is packed with entertainment for all the family. Pack a picnic and you’re good to go.

 

Another great way to spend your May day weekend, is to get outside in the garden. Children love to help with everything and a great way to keep them, and you, active over the weekend is to get outside into the garden and do everything from sweeping the patio, to cutting the grass.

Pack up a picnic and head off for a walk. If you live in a small area, you could go for a leisurely walk with a picnic and pick a nice place to stop and enjoy your lunch with a lovely view and surroundings. Your children will love exploring a new area, and packing a picnic caters to everyone’s tastes – and budgets!

Finally, why not put a dvd on, heat up some popcorn and watch a family movie? Lighthearted entertainment is great fun for all the family and is a great inexpensive way to spend some quality time together.
