Millions of us have now added Downton Abbey Christmas special to part of our television tradition every December, however, it seems the ITV hit series is also making a bid to be on your playlist this Christmas. Announcing a 45 track double-LP called Christmas At Downton Abbey, the seasonal album will feature hymns and carols from some of our favourite cast members including Cora, Charles Blake and strict butler Carson – we wonder just how risky the album will be with Carson on the scene?!

Julian Ovenden who plays Charles Blake, will sing five songs on the album including O Holy Night, Silent Night and a duet with McGovern, who plays Cora, countess of Grantham. For Julian this venture is not something new, as he released a pop vocal album in 2012 but said it was an exciting opportunity:

“It was so exciting for me to have been given the opportunity to sing two songs in a totally different context to that which I’m accustomed – without my guitar, without my band,” McGovern said in a statement.

Will Carson need his maid’s help for this festive line up? Can Cora keep the peace at Downton with her soft voice? and more to the point will any of these songs beat the X Factor to the number 1 slot?

Christmas At Downton Abbey will be released on 10 November for £11.99. You can Pre-order here: Pre order Christmas At Downton Abbey from Amazon UK.
