Order! Order! 40% Rise In Courtroom Family Disputes

According to new reports, there has been a 40% rise in global family disputes being raised in court.

Solicitors and judges across the globe have had a surge in courtroom family disputes over the last year. An overwhelming amount of cases are because of international custodial battles.

The survey was conducted by Lord Justice Thorpe and his supporting lawyer, Edward Bennett and determines an increase of 40% in courtroom family disputes, the reasons being;-

“The first is the ever increasing number of international family cases coming before the courts, necessitating assistance from an overseas judge or vice versa. The second is the increasing awareness amongst judges and practitioners throughout the world of the service that the Office provides and the benefits it can bring.” said Lord Justice Thorpe and Edward Bennett.

Lord Justice Thorpe also urged other countries to co-operate with each other for family law, because of  “globalisation, increasing movement of persons across borders, and the ever rising number of family units which are truly international”.

Lord Justice Thorpe requests this co-operation, as he has seen first hand the delays from other countries when it comes to settling international family disputes, which can be stressful for both the parents, and children involved.

Are you surprised to hear about the rise in courtroom family disputes? As time’s are getting harder will families start to argue more and more about finance?
