Furby – The Return

Hasbro the makers of Furby have today announced their intention to bring back Furby.

This cute animatronic toy which looked remarkably like a “Gremlin” and was last seen in the 90’s.

Back then Furby was the most wanted toy of the year and Christmas ’98 saw parents queuing to buy one.

Over 40 million Furbies were sold worldwide making them one of the best selling toys ever.

Will this be the case in 2012? Almost Certainly!

Release date for this little guy is Autumn 2012.

Looking remarkably like a hamster/owl with its big googly eyes this iconic animatronic toy will wow 21st century kids.

Back in 90’s Furby had a language all of its own (furbish) and his most popular phrase was “U-nye-loo-lay-doo” or in English “do you want to play?” and according to sales figures everyone did!

When a they were first purchased it spoke Furbish however over time this was replaced Furbish with English.

Its main appeal was its ability to interact and display many lifelike qualities – responded to light, sound, touch and it could even speak

We are presuming that the new Furby toy will also initially speak it’s native language – Furbish so before they officially come onto the market you may like to brush up on your furbish.

Doo? – What?

Doo-dah – Yes

Wee-tah-kah-wee-loo – Tell me a story

Boo –No

U-nye-boh-doo? – How are you?

This new Furby will have digital eyes and should be a bit cuddlier than the original.  Set to be one of the hottest kids toys parents will be trying to get their hands on this Christmas.

Will you welcome back the Furby?

When I heard Furbies were returning I was really excited and couldn’t wait to get 1, 2 or maybe 3 as that was how many I had last time but after seeing what they are going to look like I will pass on them.Where are their cute cuddly ears etc.etc.They are UGLY and that cut hacked off looking fur.How tacky.Guess I got excited for nothing and that is what “this OLD lady” had wanted for Christmas.Guess I will have to come up with something else. You should have kept the same furry creature and improved the INSIDE NOT DESTROY the OUTSIDE !!!

      Hi Mary,

Sorry your not too keen on the new Furby’s. Unfortunately, we are not the manufacturer of these toys, we only supply the information. Hopefully these furry little creatures will come out in more designs with old and new features. Thanks for your comment!

It was my all time favorite toy! My father still has two original furbies never opened and he has been saving them forever. I used to beg him to let me have one when I was younger and to this day he never has! 🙂 I am hoping to buy one of the new furbies for my (soon to be) 90 year old grandmother because she absolutely loves them and has three or four of the original ones right now!
