That’s right, The Great British Bake Off is set to return to our screens on Tuesday 20th August on BBC 2 at 8.00pm.
The new contestants will have to prove to judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood that they have what it takes to be crowned Bake-Off champion.
So, who is in this years baker’s dozen? There are 13 new contestants taking part this year: Liz, Ruby, Beca, Christine, Deborah, Frances, Kimberley, Toby, Ali, Mark, Howard, Rob and Glen.
The first challenge will see the bakers attempt to make a sandwich cake but the question is: should they keep it simple or go down the experimental route which could potentially lead to their exit?
The next challenge is Mary’s Technical Challenge which is to create an Angel Food Cake. The hopefuls are given a recipe with just the basic directions to make the cake and then have to use their own knowledge to ensure that their cake turns out to be a success. Will their cakes turn out to be adorably angelic or devilishly disastrous?
Last up in the challenges is The Showstopper, where they are told to create something chocolate-y. With Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry watching the bakers every move, they need to make sure that there’s not a ‘soggy bottom’ in sight.
