God Only Knows – BBC’s Children In Need Appeal 2014

BBC  Children in needA host of mega stars from the music industry have once again, got together to record ths year’s Children in Need single – God Only Knows.

Originally a Beach Boys song, God Only Knows originally reached No. 2 in the charts back in 1966 but with stars such as Elton John, Pharrell Williams and Kylie Minogue taking part, this year’s new BBC Music single for Children in Need is a guaranteed winner.

Beach Boys’ co-founder and God Only Knows writer Brian Wilson has been joined by 26 global musicians to form The Imposssible Orchestra alongside the Tees Valley Youth Choir and the BBC Concert Orchestra, he said “God Only Knows is a very special song. An extremely spiritual song and one of the best I’ve ever written.”

God Only Knows, is the first ever collaboration between all three main record labels, Sony, Warner and Universal Music.

Talking about ‘God Only Knows’ Sam Smith said “It’s a song that has been and will forever be part of pop history and to be singing it alongside my idols was overwhelming. All of the artists did such a beautiful job I can’t thank them enough,” and on working with The Impossible Orchestra Queen’s Brian May said, “Working on God Only Knows made me appreciate its musical construction more fully. It was like getting a glimpse into the mind of its creators. It’s a unique piece, and the experience of being a part of this new production was a great pleasure.”

Kylie Minogue said “God Only Knows is such an iconic song, it’s one of those classics that is eternal, if anything it only gets better with time,”
