Have these Festive Treats been Chosen by You?

We all like to treat ourselves to some special wine and tasty snacks over Christmas. Those more-ish can’t put them down-ish sweet and savoury snacks that we find ourselves reaching for before we even know it. What better way to help wash them down than a little (or a large!) glass of your favourite drink. We were kindly sent this to review.

If wine is not your usual tipple it can be a bit or a trial trying to find just the right wine that your guests will enjoy. Take a look below at a selection of our favourite Christmas Picks from Asda, you may find just what you’re looking for!

Viognier 2013

This 13.5 ABV, fresh, slightly spicy, white wine leaves a dry taste to the palette. It is perfect for pairing with fish dishes, mild curries and chicken.

Chardonnay

Deliciously drinkable, this 13% Alc Vol white wine has been lightly oaked to bring out its full flavour. This elegant and lighter style of wine makes a great accompaniment to seafood, fish and creamy sauced chicken dishes.

Marques Del Norte Rioja
This is a 14%, rich, velvety red wine has hints of red and black bramble fruits and brings an elegant oak and sweet spced flavour to the palette. It is ideal for serving with roast lamb or Mexican dishes.

Louis Bernard Premier Cru Champagne

Perfect for special occasions, this Champagne has been aged in the bottle giving it a fresh and elegant taste. Best served well chilled, it would be perfect for toasting friends and family both at Christmas and New Year.

Extra Special Luxury Christmas Pudding

No Christmas dinner is complete without the arrival of a flaming Christmas pudding. Asda’s 6 month matured Luxury Christmas Pudding, with it’s sweet cherries, almonds, walnuts and plump fruits all smothered in fine cognac and sherry would make a wonderful and tasty end to a delicious Christmas lunch or dinner.

Mince Pies

No festive party would be complete without a selection of mince pies. They are one of our favourite Christmas nibbles, with their sweet fruity filling all neatly wrapped up in a delicious pastry they are a Christmas treat nobody wants to miss out on.

Asda kindly sent us over the mince pies below and although it was a struggle we managed to demolish both packs (all in the aid of science – change that to gluttony!) This is what our taste testers had to say:

Chosen by you 6 Mince Pies

These crumbly, more-ish mince pies contain deliciously rich and moist mincemeat all perfectly encased in crumbly shortcrust pastry. Perfect with a hot cup of tea, a milky coffee, a delicious creamy, frothy hot chocolate or just on their own you’ll find it difficult not to reach for another.

Extra Special 4 Puff Pastry Mince Pies

With just four in the pack this pack of mince pies were in puff pastry as opposed to the usual shortcrust variety, a little different on the palate but equally tasty. Looking a bit like a sausage roll (but topped with sugar) these were delicious served hot, straight from the oven and the rich, fruity mincemeat was so tasty.

And finally….One for the Children

Christmas Sweet Shop

Looking just like an old-fashioned sweet shop window this would make a great present for any child. Open up the box and inside you’ll find a range of 8 glass, screw topped jars filled with a colourful array of sweets.

Everyone’s favourite has been included, jelly beans, dolly mixtures, candy mice and others.  These sweets will bring out the big kid in all of us!
