Ever walked through a shopping center at Christmas time and admired all the gorgeously decorated Christmas gift boxes? Well, we’ve put together this ‘how to make a fun christmas box’ tutorial and have even made a step by step video to go with it, so that you too can have beautifully decorated gift boxes.
First thing’s first. You are going to need a few basic things to do this.
You will require the below accessories which you can purchase at Tesco Direct:
– A cardboard box
– Wrapping paper of your choice
– Double Sided Sellotape
– 50mm wide ribbon of your choice.
So now that you have everything you need, let’s get started!
You can watch our step by step how to make a christmas gift box on our official YouTube channel below:
Let’s Get started!
The first step to do is measure the wrapping paper for the box. This is a simple step. All you need to do is completely wrap the wrapping paper over the box to ensure it is fully covered. Once the box is completely covered, cut the paper where you require.
Secondly, If your box is flatpack, you can take this opportunity to assemble the box using sellotape to help you along the way. Ensure you don’t seal the entire box however, as we still need to place our gift inside, which is why we recommend buying boxes with separate lids, however this is not required.
Next, you want to fold the wrapping paper up to each edge of the box and secure with some sellotape. You’re going to need a lot of sellotape.
Once you have done this step, you can go onto tidying up. Basically fold in any edges you see on the parcel and make sure the paper is tightly pressed to ensure there are no bubbles on the parcel.
If you have a lid separate to the box, then you can now take this opportunity to wrap the lid.
Once this step is complete, it’s time to get to work on the exciting part – ribbon!
Many people choose to make a ‘+’ shape on only the lid of the box. To do this, drag some ribbon across the lid, and leaving roughly half an inch on each side as extra ribbon (to secure onto the box without seeing the sellotape). Using scissors, cut the ribbon at the required length. Then take some double sided sellotape and place some across the top in a straight line. Taking your ribbon, then place this on top of the double sided sellotape. Secure te sides with normal sellotape. Repeat this step for the other side of the cross.
If you want to cover the entire box with an ‘+’ shape, then measure the ribbon from the top of one side of the box, to underneath the box to the top of the other side and repeat again for the other side.
Once these steps are complete, all you need to do is ensure there are no messy edges and once these are all tidied, then your perfect fun Christmas box is complete! Now all you need to do is hope Santa brings something to put inside them…
