The Good Housekeeping Christmas taste test results are in, with Asda knocking the stuffing from Waitrose’s feet and Iceland winning best mince pie’s of the year…In the words of Peter Andre – Amazing!
Better known for it’s cheap frozen foods, Iceland has ranked number one (out of sixteen might we add) for it’s box of six Deluxe deep filled, crumbly and fruity £1.50 mince pie’s – drooling yet?
Researchers from Good Housekeeping magazine were put through a gruelling (yeah right) task of tasting through 175 festive foods across 12 categories from all major supermarkets – how did they ever cope? and found that price had very little to do with taste on some foods.
Other Christmas treats to come out on top were Tesco for it’s Finest nine-month Matured Cherry Topped pudding at £5 (with Harrods very pricey £25 one only coming in 12th place) Asda is the place to go if you want the tastiest stuffing, Lidl for Stilton cheese, Sainsburys for mulled wine and Marks and Spencers for Cranberry sauce and king of the Christmas cake.
Tesco who was the overall consistent supermarket for great tasting Christmas foods will be pleased with the results and we are pretty sure Peter Andre will be happily eating a mince pie in Iceland Christmas advert.
