The undisputed king of all Christmas tree’s is due to have an incredible star ontop of it this 2013. The Rockefeller Christmas Tree is set to be turned on, on December 4th and will be topped with a 220 kg Swarovski star.
The Rockefeller Centre is renowned for it’s annual Christmas tree. The tree stands at 76 feet tall and is adorned with gorgeous Christmas decorations. Each year, the turn-on of the lights is presented by celebrities and this year is no different.
The star is 9.5 feet in diameter and is made of 25,000 crystals. It is most likely to be the biggest ornament any Christmas Tree has had before. Weighing in at 550 pounds, the star has 1 million facets! Those are figures you simply cannot wrap your head around until you see it! Thousands of people are expected to attend the big event, making this a truly spectacular event.
Each day the tree will be turned on from 5:30am until 11:30pm except for Christmas day when it will be on for 24 hours. On new year’s eve, the tree will be turned off to focus attention on close-by Times Square where the New Year festivities are held.
Midtown Manhattan sure is one of the most Christmassy places to be in the world at this time of year!
