John Lewis Sales Increase With A Little Help From Furby

Retail giant, John Lewis has seen an increase in sales by 7.6% on a year ago thanks to the return of the 90’s toy craze Furby.

The retailer has seen an increased overall in takings by 7.6% on a year ago to 91.7 in the week to Saturday. Technology products for kids and scooters joined Furby as a favourite buy for parents.

It was also added that tablet PCs continue to be the “hero product” of the season after a 22% jump in electrical and home technology over the week. John Lewis’s online sales were up 31% on a year earlier as the chain’s internet operation gears for its peak week to trade in three weeks time.

The sales growth figures of 7.6% compares with a rise of 11.4% the previous week, when the stores achieved sales of £85m.
