Lady Gaga sued for £6.5 million by toy company MGA Entertainment over doll dispute
It looks like MGA Entertainment wont be phoning Lady Gaga’s telephone for quite sometime with the pop star making a last minute request to have her voice chip removed from the doll range, this has resulted in the toy manufacturer to sue Gaga for $10 million (£6.5 million in the UK) – that is surely going to cause a little ‘Bad Romance’ between the two!
The superstar and her team have now been accused of causing deliberate delays and acting in “bad faith” so the doll would not be in stores for over Christmas – instead being launched in 2013 to coincide with her new album and perfume range.
Though the diva demands do not stop at just removing the voice from the lady gaga doll, claims have been made that the pop star also wanted a facial restructure on the doll for her to look “more supermodel-like” – because you know she was ‘Born this way’ – these puns are just getting worse!
Rumors are circulating that MGA had already made this its largest ever advance of $! million to the singers licensing company, the Bravado International Group. The toy group have now asked the judge to allow the distribution of the doll in the way it is currently designed.
Lady Gaga’s spokesperson Amanda Silverman told the New York Daily News that the singer’s lawyers have not seen the court documents, but added:
“Lady Gaga will vigorously defend MGA’s ill-conceived lawsuit and is confident that she will prevail.” She also insisted that the dispute is a matter for the toy makers and the licensing company, saying: “There was no legitimate reason for dragging Lady Gaga into that dispute.”
It looks like Gaga’s week has just taken another hit especially just straight after Madonna has once again accused her of making born this way sound exactly as ‘Express Yourself’ does.
Do you think the super star is on “Edge of Glory” or do you think she will play her “Poker Face” and let it all slide by her?
