One expected the LeapPad 2 the iPad-style tablet for which features front and back camera, video recorders and 4GB of memory to fly off the shelves.
Major toy retailers such as Toys R Us and Walmart along side The Toy Insider, a holiday gift guide have all tipped the LeapPad to be this year’s top toy for christmas and 2012.
In 2011 the original LeapPad was a huge success.
‘It’s going to be the war of the tablets,’ said Laurie Schacht, chief executive and president of Adventure Publishing, which issues the Toy Insider Hot 20 list.
‘What the LeapPad 2 has done is it has really positioned itself not to be part of that tablet war but to be an item for younger kids that gets them ready to move into the older tablets.’
Also included in The Toy Insiders lists includes the LeapPad Explorer 2, in the list for three-to-five year olds and Kurio Android 7 Inch Tablet from Techno Source for children who are 6 to 8 years old.
While the U.S. holiday shopping does not gt into full swing until after Thanksgiving, lists such as this being released in September will give parents an idea of what will be on the letters to Santa this year.
