Following on to that success Nintendo have announced that they are to release the Wii U in late (Nov/Dec) 2012

The Wii U will appeal to casual gamers and Nintendo hopes that it will, once again, capture our imaginations.

Information is limited at present but it has been suggested that its graphics will not match it rivals.

Will my existing Wii games still work?

Yes -it will support accessories from your old Nintendo Wii such as the nunchucks, wii balance board etc.

The new model will be compatible with all your Wii games and accessories.

This new console will feature a 6.2 inch screen as a controller which when teamed up with the main screen will create new video game experiences.

Full HD graphics will be supported and the Wii U along with motion sensing game play.

What Games can I play?

You should be able to play games such as New Super Mario Bros. U using just the gamepad, although it does need to be close (Nintendo says – in the same room) to the Wii U console.

Pre release information is that with some of the games you should be able to rotate the gamepad to get a 360º view so that you feel you are standing in the middle rather than looking at TV, giving you a window into a virtual world.

With the new universal remote you should be able to use the game pad as a touch screen remote for your TV – even when the console is turned off.

If the new Nintendo Wii U lives up to its expectations this will be top of most kids “most wanted” list.
