Is Hamleys about to turn French?

Apparently a French toy retailer, Groupe Ludendo, has put forward a deal reputedly worth £60 million for the company.

Groupe Ludendo who has stores in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Spain could, according to The Sunday Times, purchase Hamleys by the end of the month.

Hamleys who opened its Regent Street store in 1881 is presently controlled by Landsbankj – a nationalised Icelandic bank and has a reported turnover of £43 million last year.
