Over EIGHT Million Brits have started Christmas shopping

With 100 days to go, over EIGHT million of us have already started our Christmas shopping according to new research.

Festive fans everywhere, rejoice because there are only 100 days left until Santa Claus comes to town, but will you be ready? apparently yes! as new research carried out by American Express reveals 8.6 million of us have already begun present buying.

The main reasons for starting so early included grabbing a present in the sales to forty one per cent admitting they simply didn’t want to have to carry all of their presents in one go.

Getting a head start on festive shopping seems to be a new trend as the research also reveled since 2016, numbers have risen from 7.5 million to 8.6 million this 2018.

Who is more organised? according to the credit card company, women are! with over a fifth (21%) having already ticked items off the festive shopping list, compared to just 11% of men.

Stephen Steinhardt, Director at American Express, says: “With so many people starting their shopping early the Christmas countdown is now well and truly underway. If you’re not an early bird shopper, it’s a good idea to get started before it’s time to dig out the tinsel and decorate your Christmas tree. This will avoid last minute panic buying and help you spread the costs. By paying with a card that earns rewards or cashback, you can make your money work harder so you can treat yourself to something special in the New Year.”
