Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall have announced they are expecting their first child in the new year. The pair married in 2011 at Cannongate Kirk in Edinburgh, and now are expecting Royal Baby Number Two!.
The expectant parents made a statement from Buckingham Palace, simply saying “Mr and Mrs Mike Tindall are very pleased to announce that Zara Tindall is expecting a baby in the new year.”
As we all know, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton are expecting their first child in the coming weeks, meaning two royal babies are to be born within less than a year! Despite the similarities between the two, there is one big difference. William & Kate’s baby will become in line to be a monarch, whereas Zara’s child will be just 16th in line to the throne.
Zara Phillips has always claimed she experienced a relatively normal upbringing, and because of this it is likely she will offer her new son or daughter the same upbringing.
With her continuing pregnancy, it is questioned whether Zara will be able to compete in the 2016 Olympics in Rio, but her spokeswoman was quick to say “She can still compete, it totally depends on horses and whether she feels it’s appropriate.”
