Other, more religious and mainly poorer, countries than the UK, only ‘exploit’ Christmas about one month before the event. It is inconceivable that the second largest store in London should open a Christmas store in early August. Will one of the celebrated windows be dressed for Christmas to be viewed by summer tourists, buyers, etc by the end of August or early September? Hopefully, Selfridges will suffer a huge loss both in monetary and prestige terms as a result of this ludicrous decision. Who made it, the present Managing Director; the new owner Galen Weston, or ANO?Certainly not Harry Gordon Selfridge who opened the store in 1909 with the premise ‘the customer is always right’. So listen to your customers Selfridges – do we want Christmas in August? Have postboxes predominately situated throughout the store with this question and answer sheets and find out what we want.
