For the second time Selfridges has won the award for the Best Department Store in the World by The Intercontinental Group of Department Stores at the Global Department Store Summit in Paris.
Standing against finalists such as Macy’s and Woolworths (South Africa) from around the world Selfridges took the top slot. The awards ceremony is held every two years and is attended by over 380 retail executives.
Selfridges, who will hold the award until 2014 operates 4 stores plus an online business. Its brand has gone from strength to strength worldwide.
On receiving this prestigious award Selfridges managing director Anne Pitcher said “We are absolutely delighted that Selfridges has again been recognised as the best department store in the world. We have had a terrific couple of years since last winning, and it is a tribute to the commitment of our teams that we have been honoured with the award again for 2012. As the world’s eyes are on the UK for the summer Olympics and Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Selfridges looks forward to delivering an extraordinary London experience for our customers from around the globe”
As part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration and to support a summer of sport Selfridges is inviting you to their Big British Tea Party.
Part of their Big British Bang campaign, this will be held on its London store rooftop where you will be invited to high tea from a shop serving drinks, light lunches and afternoon tea.
While there you can enjoy a game of crazy golf with around 200 cypress trees plus an old fashioned band stand which will feature daily performances by British musicians.
