There and Back Again, a Hobbit’s tale by Peter Jackson

The final part of Bilbo Baggins’ epic journey is set to be released around the 17th December, 2014 – so not much chance of finding the DVD in your Christmas stocking!

Called There and Back Again, (I’m sure I’ve heard that name before – Ah yes – Bilbo’s book!) there are rumours that suggest the title may be changed to ‘Into the Fire’, however with all the hype following the original title I doubt the name will be changed. Could this be a little smoke screen for another movie or perhaps a video game?

This will be the third and final part of The Hobbit, it follows The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and will be produced by Peter Jackson, who also directed the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

‘There and Back Again’ will cover the remaining chapters fourteen to nineteen of J.R.R.Tolkiens epic novel and will lead us from The Hobbit to The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

This will be the epic conclusion to Peter Jackson’s trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien. The film concludes the adventure of Bilbo Baggins, who joins the Wizard Gandalf and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

With less than 8 months to go until the release, rumours already abound about further movie releases, but ‘The Hobbit – There and Back Again’ will be the last adaptation of The Lord of the Rings and related works, as the Tolkien Estate has forbidden any more films from being made, but who knows perhaps they might change their minds – let’s hope it won’t be the last we’ve seen of Tolkien’s amazing stories.
