Tolkien’s The Hobbit Celebrates 75th Anniversary

Party Hats, Balloons and cake at the ready as its the 75th anniversary of Tolkien’s The Hobbit! Warners Bros and others are celebrating with Hobbit Day and more marketing activities.

Tolkien week begins on September 19th with a theatrical trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

The first film in the new trilogy which is based on J.R.R. Tolkiens popular Lord of the Rings books will be the key focus during Tolkien week.  The new trailer will be broadcast online on September 19th at 2pm Greenwich Time and 5pm Greenwich Time. Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) are getting involved with Tolkien Week.

The celebrations will also continue on September 21st with activities related to the 75th anniversary of the books publication.

Hobbit Day then follows on September 22nd which marks the birthdays of both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins. The Hobbits Facebook page will roll out a series of features and competitions throughout Tolkien Week. The film launches on December 14th.  Sequel The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug arrives on December 13th, 2013, and The Hobbit: There and Back Again, hits cinemas on July 18th,
2014.
