We’ll all be sad to see the end of Downton Abbey after this year’s Christmas special, but one cast member is actually looking forward to our favourite period drama coming to a close.
According to the Radio Times the Dowager Countess just can’t wait to get her corset off!
Maggie Smith who plays the acid tongued matriarch said “It’s not riotously funny to be in corsets and a wig,” Smith revealed recently.
She told Yours magazine “We have had a great time making the show – the cast are enchanting and all the young ones are really lovely, so it was all very enjoyable on that level. But, to tell you the truth, the corsets are agony.”
“God knows how they lived in the days when they had to wear them all the time.” Looking back the sprightly 80 year old who plays Dowager Countess Violet Crawley had, corsets aside, only good things to say about the last few years at Downton Abbey.
