Sparkling, dangling ornaments are usually too much for a dog or cat to resist but according to new research Brits are spending an average of £286 furnishing and decorating their home for their pet with 9% even having their very own room in the house.

UK Pet owners are furnishing their homes to ensure their furry friend has it’s own relaxing space and what’s more 1 in 10 pets in the UK even have their own room, better buy that extra Christmas tree this year.
The survey of 1,013 UK pet owners carried out by interiors etailer, Furniture123.co.uk found that Pet beds (89%) topped the list for pet-friendly furniture while 62% invest in soft furnishings such as blankets, well they need to warm over the Winter months.
This comes following recent reports that – as a nation – Brits spend a total of £1,150* on pets each year. It was also reported that the UK spent around £750m on our pets last Christmas with supermarkets even releasing pet prosecco.
Mark Kelly, marketing manager at Furniture123.co.uk said: “Pets are often considered part of the family, so it’s no surprise that pet owners are willing to invest in furniture to accommodate their pets and make them feel more comfortable at home.
“The amount we spend as a nation on our pets has continued to increase year on year with a variety of products and services now on offer for pet parents and their fur babies – including gourmet food and drink, grooming services and pet accessories.”
