With Christmas on it’s way, we’re all looking for a great table game. ‘The Mind Extreme’ is a complex card game suitable for 2 to 4 players aged 8 and over. We were kindly gifted this for review.
Similar to the original game, ‘The Mind’, comes ‘Mind Extreme’ which is definitely a more complex version of the game.
We sent Elaine off to test this out.
“We all love a good mind challenging game to get our teeth into at Christmas which is why I was really looking forward to testing this out.
The aim of the game is to get players to play cards from their hand in ascending order without consulting one another to complete a certain number of levels and win.
It certainly is mind challenging. It took me a while to figure it out.
The game features two decks of cards which are numbered 1 to 50 as opposed to the original single deck which is numbered from 1 to 100. In order to tell each set of cards apart each set of cards are in a different colour.
The game continues with one deck of cards, which is played in ascending order, the other being played in descending order. Just to make it all a bit easier some levels have to be played blind, with the cards facing downwards so that no other player can see what’s been played.
It all sounds very complicated, but once you get into the swing of it, this can provide endless hours of fun for players, especially those who have a competitive side. One game of this lasts roughly 20 minutes (if you can stop yourself from playing multiple games!) and as mentioned, is suited for ages 8+.
I played this with Katy who ended up winning the game. After just one game of this I was already feeling competitive and ready to play a second game.
This game is entertaining and challenging and we will likely be playing this more, especially over Christmas & during lockdown!”
It is hoped that ‘The Mind Extreme’ will be released at this year’s Essen Spiel game fair in late October.
