We asked Larry to share the five biggest mistakes people make when creating a Christmas wreath, and exactly how to fix every single one of them.

• Not pulling your wire or twine tight enough when making your wreath. When you make your wreath, you need to make sure you pull really tight and keep all your lovely ingredients very secure. As the wreath dries out, the fresh produce will contract, so if you haven’t secured it nice and tight, it will start to fall apart. Not what we want to see!

• Cutting your ingredients too large. Be mindful to cut your produce to the correct size. If the individual stems appear smaller than you expected, have no fear; it will look super generous once made. If you keep your spruce branches and other fresh materials too large, it may not fit your door and won’t have the same abundant overall look.

• Not adding enough produce. In our opinion, more is always more – after all, Christmas is a time for indulgence! Be generous with your ingredients and ensure you have a wreath to envy the whole neighbourhood.

• Forgetting to water your wreath. Like all living produce, wreaths need water to extend their life and ensure they continue to look marvellous throughout the festive season. You don’t need to take it off the door and literally water it, but a light mist of H2O every few days will keep it very happy indeed!

• Not using the correct wires. Many of the festive ingredients such as dried fruits and pine cones will need to be wired onto your wreath. Make sure to select a sturdy wire, thick enough to piece the object in question but not too rigid that you can’t manipulate it. Wires that are too thin will also not penetrate the moss layer behind, so make sure to be like Goldilocks and pick the one that’s just right!
