Classic FM Christmas Is Here, And Aled Jones Has Thawed Out To Celebrate

Classic FM Christmas has arrived, and the launch was anything but subtle. Aled Jones burst out of a block of ice to the unmistakable sound of Walking in the Air. Yes, really. It’s the first-ever Christmas station from Classic FM, and it’s packed with carols, ballets and film scores. Think The Nutcracker, Home Alone and Love Actually, all in one festive playlist. Here’s what’s on and how to tune in.

Aled Jones Breaks The Ice

Classic FM Christmas launched with a very cool stunt. In a short film, Aled Jones is frozen inside a giant block of ice. Then the opening notes of Walking in the Air begin. Suddenly he stirs, stands up and bursts into song, smashing the ice to signal that Christmas has officially arrived.

It’s a perfect match. Walking in the Air, from The Snowman, has made Aled synonymous with Christmas for generations. If this doesn’t get you in the festive mood, nothing will.

What You’ll Hear On Classic FM Christmas

Classic FM Christmas is a whole station of festive favourites. Expect much-loved carols, plus orchestral and choral classics. You’ll also get iconic film scores from Christmas classics, including Home Alone and Love Actually.

Sally Ardis, Managing Director of Global’s Music Brands, said: “There’s nothing quite like the first Christmas song of the year to get you into the festive spirit.”

Think of it as your cosy soundtrack for wrapping, baking, and trimming the tree. It’s also ideal for anyone who wants a calmer Christmas than the usual pop playlist.
