When it comes to creating the ultimate festive feast it can be stressful and complicated. With so many supermarkets and brands offering everything from Christmas puddings to Panettone’s it’s difficult to know where to start.

That’s where UnderTheChristmasTree is the place to go, we’ve gone and done all the hard work for you. Our panel cooked and tasted over 80 Christmas indulgent items to find out who’s selling the tastiest products this year.

Verdict: Everything a mince pie should be – plump juicy fruit, full of festive flavours such orange and brandy all with a soft well-baked base. A perfect balance of sweetness and spice, you’ll certainly want to tuck into more than one this Christmas.

Verdict: A Christmas pudding should have the correct balance of booze, sweetness, richness and bitterness which is why Asda Extra special 9 month matured luxury Christmas Pudding has come top. The team said the fruits were plump, there’s was the right amount of nuts and you could really taste festive spices of cinnamon and ginger – and the boozy part helped too.

Verdict: A classic fruit cake adorned with bronze falling leaves and acorns. The fruity cake is layered with a sweet icing and marzipan, both which are soft, delicious and in proportion to the cake, so not overly thick. The buttery cake is crammed with plump juicy fruits which have bee soaked in brandy given it a very festive and warming feel. The cake had a good amount of spice and like true Christmas cake, crumbs stuck to the knife when cut. Sumptuous!

Christmas panettone Winner: Tesco Finest Orange Liqueur & Chocolate Panettone (750g)

Verdict: Voted our winner! this soft and springy Panettone was a massive hit with our testers who all said one slice was not enough. Instantly on opening you could smell a nutty chocolate – think Nutella with a hint of orange. Our tasters said this was as soft as a pillow and tasted delightful, the generous amounts of hazelnuts on top of the bread balanced out the sweetness of the chocolate and orange liqueur. The panettone had lavish amounts of peel and melted in your mouth.

Verdict: The winner certainly does take it all with this impressive dessert. Rich, indulgent all with a sharp twist of redcurrants. Holding is shape when you cut, the sweet chocolate meringue was crisp on the outside and chewy in the middle. The swirls of Belgium dark chocolate and whipped cream were evenly matched throughout this dessert – absolutely divine.

Festive fizz winner: Tesco Finest Franciacorta

Verdict: Crisp, dry and has hints of brioche make this top of our festive fizz taste test. Our panel said it had ripe, citrus notes and the mousse had a soft texture. Followed with a green apple and lemony fizz character, this was refreshing, tarte and will be an overall crowd pleaser.
