And today the UK’s favourite dance show marks its 20th anniversary by announcing a special episode will air later in the year and it’s set to be packed full of performances, and plenty of heart-warming interviews with past celebrity stars, professional dancers, and judges.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC says: “Strictly Come Dancing is more than just a TV show, it has become an integral part of British culture, bringing families together and inspiring viewers of all ages to embrace the joy of dance. Throughout its 20-year history, the show has launched careers, sparked trends, and touched the hearts of millions with its dazzling performances, emotional journeys, and unforgettable moments and we will be showcasing it all in this very special programme.”
When will the Strictly Come Dancing anniversary show air?
Currently the only details the BBC has announced is that it will be later in the year. We’ll keep our festive friends posted here on further updates.
Who will be on the Strictly Come Dancing anniversary show?
So far we know that past celebrity stars, professional dancers, and judges will al be on the show but no-one has been confirmed yet.
Last year’s series saw Ellie Leach, a former Coronation Street star, win the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing alongside her professional partner, Vito Coppola.
And during 2023’s Christmas special Jay from EastEnders (Jamie Borthwick) to the glitterball trophy home alongside his professional dance partner, Nancy Xu, who impressed the judges and the audience with their quickstep to “Merry Christmas Everyone” by Shakin’ Stevens, earning a perfect score of 40 points.
