Below are our handpicked Spirits and liqueurs for Christmas 2023
Ramsbury Single Estate Vodka
This award-winning premium vodka ticks every box for creaminess and smoothness. Our team felt it this was easy to drink and had a really nice refreshing taste. The vodka had a good kick and tasted lovely on its own and with a mixer such as soda and cranberry.
Ramsbury Single Estate Gin
Gin lovers this is one for you! Our team said this had the absolute right mix of botanicals and the pine and juniper notes come through, making one heck of a good G&T. There was a slight spice which complimented the grassy fruit tones of the Gin and gave a real warmth – Perfect for those cold winters evenings.
Aldi Infusionist Gold Flake Pomegranate & Cranberry Flavour Gin Liqueur
Looking to impress this Christmas? then don’t go past Aldi’s new Gold Flake Pomegranate & Cranberry Flavour Gin Liqueur. We loved the Christmas tree design and gold (edible!) flakes inside. The gin was fruity and had a very distinctive cranberry taste which was smooth on the pallet. Nice on its own and even nicer in a cocktail!
Aldi Hand Steeped SLOE Gin
Sloe is not for everyone but Aldi’s new Slow Gin is sure to create some new fans/ With its sweet blackcurrent taste our team said this was a real winter warmer and unlike other Sloe drinks which can be rather sour this had a great balance of sweetness and was very refreshing.
Aldi Ballycastle Tiramisu Flavour Country Cream
Limited edition, sweet, smooth and tastes exactly like the dessert (but with a more boozy twist) is what our team said about the new Ballcastle Tiramisu. If you like to indulge at Christmas pick up one of these bad boys, it’s sweet but super tasty and one glass is not enough! Ensure to chill and this makes it taste even more delightful.
Aldi Infusionist Gold Flake Clementine Flavoured Gin Liqueur
Firstly, our team said the shape and design of the bottle reminded them of a glittery snow globe! On opening, you are instantly hit with the gorgeous smell of clementine and tastes very punchy too. Its citrussy taste reminded us of the little tangerine you pulled out of your stocking on Xmas morning. Perfect tipple to enjoy alongside a mince pie.
In the Welsh Wind – Three Grain Vodka
This three-grain vodka is sure to turn heads this festive season as it is certainly extremly tasty. We felt the spicyness and peppery taste of Rye were evenly balanced by the sweet and smoky barley. Notes of vanilla were also there and personally, we enjoyed sipping over ice – if you’ve got a vodka snob in the family then ensure this is under their tree this Christmas.
O’Donnell Moonshine Tough Nut
No hot chocolate should go without a dash of O’Donnell Moonshine Tough Nut. We felt it tasted sort of like Ferrero Roche! It had a nutty, smooth taste and was nice on its own and even nicer in a hot chocolate. The hazelnut taste is strong but not harsh – just delicious!
Tesco Finest Pomegranate Gin Liqueur 70cl, £12, Tesco
It’s like a warm mulled wine but with a fragrant gin botanical taste! Not only do we love the design of the bottle but it also tastes as good as it looks. This winter warmer has a lovely sweet taste and the pomegranate didn’t overpower it, bursting with fresh fruity notes we personally loved this on its own however a dash to your mulled wine is also very nice.
Altamura Premium Puglian Vodka, £32.50, Master of Malt
Made from 100% ancient Altamura grains, this elegant vodka gives a really nice kick. Our team felt that hints of vanilla and slightly spicy notes of aniseed and pepper came through well-balanced. Very easy to drink and lovely in a cocktail or on its own over ice it is no wonder why this Vodka has won so many awards.
Tesco Finest Gingerbread Espresso Martini Liqueur 70cl, £14, Tesco
Espresso fans are going to love this sweet, spicy gingerbread and coffee liqueur, it has even amounts of ginger and roasted coffee and our team said it had a strong espresso aroma. The blended sweetness and spiciness will certainly awaken your tastebuds. Try over ice or a dash in your next cup of coffee!
CleanCo UK – Clean G – Non-Alcoholic Gin, £16, CleanCo UK
Looking to go alcohol-free this Christmas, then CleanCo’s Gin alternative is a smashing option. This had a strong taste and we felt it did taste like the real deal. With notes of Juniper and a refreshing light body, this was lovely with tonic, a slice of lemon and some ice!
CleanCo UK – Clean T – Non-Alcoholic Tequila, £16, CleanCo UK
This award-winning Tequila will certainly leave you feeling happy without the hangover! The oak aromas are complimented by the sweet melon and subtle fruit flavours which give that tequila kick. The light peppery taste gives a nice spice! On its own was super tasty but in a Margarita was even nicer.
CleanCo UK – Clean R – Non-Alcoholic Rum, £16, CleanCo UK
A real winter warmer is how we can describe the Clean R! If you’re searching for a spiced rum alternative give this a go! Packed full of sweet and spicy notes of caramel, pepper and cinnamon, you certainly don’t miss the alcohol and we think you could add this to your Christmas cake instead of sherry/whisky!
Have a gin-tastic Christmas!
