How To Create A Warm And Festive Dining Table For Christmas

Looking for some new ideas on how to decorate your Christmas dining table this year? We were kindly sent these to decorate our table. Take a look at our warm and festive dining table below:

We like our dining room and table to be filled with lots of festive decorations, so we’ve put together some of our favourite items to use to make your dining room extra festive.

Sainsburys Christmas Table

This year we went to both Sainsbury’s and Wilko’s to get some inspiration for our dining room and neither of the stores disappointed as they were packed with lots of different decorations:

Firstly we went looking for a table cover, our table extends and can seat 8 (and usually many more!) so we really needed a festive table cover that was long enough to cover the entire table.

This table cover from Sainsbury’s  did the job perfectly as it covered the entire table and could have covered an even bigger table as it  was such a good size. The cover is predominately cream and has red leaves/branches over it. We were delighted to discover that Sainsbury also had a matching table runner (this time it was red with cream branches and flowers) and we placed this down the centre of our table.

Again the runner was long enough to cover the full length of the table with a reasonable over hang at both sides which could make  it  long enough for an even bigger table than ours. Adding the table runner gave the table depth and the red and cream colours made it looks really festive.

Sainsburys Christmas Ornament

Next up we added in red placemats, red wine glasses and of course cutlery. The copper cutlery came from Wilko, it was quite heavy in weight and as copper is one of the most popular colours for Christmas this year it gave our table an up-to-date look and feel. The set includes 4 knives, 4 forks, 4 tablespoons and 4 teaspoons costing £25.00.

We then added in Sainsbury’s beautiful Christmas ornament which shows Santa and his reindeer taking off from the North Pole on Christmas Eve ready to deliver the presents. This ornament is protected by a glass dome which can’t be removed, so no need to worry about the contents getting damaged. It also lights up which gives it a really warm look and shows off all the detail inside, this is very effective especially when it is darker in the house.

We also added in Wilko’s Let It Glow Bead Ornament which added in a bit of sparkle to the table. It is on-trend with copper, gold and white contrasts and has glitter on it – perfect for the festive season. To finish off we added in Wilko’s Gold Stag to fill up the table, the Stag was a decent size and looked very elegant on the table.

Of course no table would be complete without some mince pies and a couple of bottles of wine. We chose Sainsburys Taste The Difference Mince Pies which we could smell the minute they came out of the box and they were really deep filled with a decent helping of mince meat.

The wine was Asda’s Extra Special Voignier White Wine which has a floral and fragrant taste to it making this the perfect wine for meat such as Turkey. We also chose Sainsburys Taste The Difference Cepa Alegro red wine which is 13% volume alcohol level and has tasting notes of rich black fruits and is smooth and mellow to drink, perfect if your having meats such as beef or pork and would go perfectly with cheese!

Overall we loved all of these products as they were all very festive and made our room feel warm and Christmasy. You can get everything you need to re-create our table at Sainsburys and Wilko.
