Christmas Eve is six months away â weâre dreaming of mince pies and blasting Slade! But when will you start the festivities?

Itâs June. The sun might be shining, the BBQâs been dusted off (even if it’s only been used once), and we’re already halfway through the usual debate about whether weâre actually getting a summer this year. And yet⊠there it is.
A thought, uninvited. A jingle in your head. A sudden, inexplicable craving for something spiced and fruity wrapped in buttery pastry, yes we’re talking about mince pies of course!
Yes, friends â itâs six months until Christmas Eve, and the question is unavoidable:
Is it too early for a mince pie?
If you’re scoffing at the idea (or scoffing a pie while pretending youâre scoffing at the idea), you’re not alone. For many, the thought of tucking into festive fare while the paddling poolâs still out feels way too much.

But letâs be honest â weâve all seen that one store that’s already seeking them on the shelves, or spotted the odd leftover chocolate coin behind the sofa. Christmas, like glitter, has a way of sticking around.
Retailers start planning Christmas in January. Yes, January. By March, supermarket buyers are deep in negotiations over yule logs, and by May, big brands are filming their Christmas adverts (fake snow in spring â how festive).
So really, if the shops are allowed to get ahead, surely the rest of us can at least give a cheeky nod to the season?

Not sure if you’re coming down with early-onset festive fever? Look out for these symptoms:
If this is you â you may be infected. And there is no cure, only carols.

Letâs face it: the world is a bit upside-down these days. If a sneaky mince pie in June brings you joy, whereâs the harm?
Pair it with a summery glass of Pimms if you must â call it a Winter in the Tropics fusion moment.
Besides, six months is practically nothing. Thatâs 26 weeks, 182 days, or just four paydays (gulp). By the time youâve blinked, it’ll be December and the Quality Street tin will be half empty again (probably just wrappers left).

If this article has made you want to dig out your Christmas playlist or sneak a quick scroll through Black Friday deals â go ahead. Youâre among friends here.
Whether youâre a âDeck the Halls in Julyâ type or someone who canât even think about tinsel until December 15th, just remember:
Lifeâs short. Eat the mince pie. Even in June.
