Argos Christmas Advert 2026: Richard Ayoade Gets the Full Scrooge Treatment From Connie and Trevor

Bah humbug? Not on Connie and Trevor’s watch. Argos has turned Richard Ayoade into a modern Scrooge, and we can’t stop laughing.
Argos Christmas advert 2026 has landed, and it’s giving us serious A Christmas Carol energy. Only this time, the ghosts are a doll and a toy dinosaur. And the Scrooge? None other than Richard Ayoade.
Called Tales of Argos Past, the new ad tackles something most of us are guilty of. Admit it. Mention Argos and you’re instantly back on the living room carpet, felt-tip in hand, circling dream presents in the catalogue. Lovely memory. But Argos would quite like you to know it’s not just a toy shop anymore.

What happens in the Argos Christmas advert 2026?
Richard Ayoade plays a modern-day Scrooge with one big problem. He’s stuck firmly in “Argos Past”. As far as he’s concerned, Argos means toys, wish lists and that big, glorious catalogue. Nothing more.
So Argos’s famous double act, Connie and Trevor, decide it’s time for a festive intervention. Playing the ghosts of Christmas, they whisk him off on a journey through Christmases past and future. Along the way, they show him visions of modern gifting, from the latest festive tech to beauty and homeware. Their mission? Break the nostalgic spell and prove there’s so much more to Argos.
Honestly, if anyone was born to play a deadpan Scrooge, it’s Richard Ayoade. We can practically hear the eye-roll.
Wait, is Argos really not just for toys?

Nope. This is the whole point of the ad, and it’s part of Argos’s year-round There’s More to Argos campaign. Alongside the toys, you’ll find tech, beauty, homeware and loads more. So if you’ve been treating Argos as a toy-only trip, this might be the nudge to check out the rest of the gift list.

Our verdict
We love this one. Taking A Christmas Carol and swapping the ghosts for Connie and Trevor is a stroke of festive genius. Plus, casting Richard Ayoade as Scrooge? Chef’s kiss.
Most of all, it pokes fun at something we all do. We still get misty-eyed thinking about circling things in that catalogue. But maybe this year, we’ll circle a coffee machine instead of a Furby. Maybe.
