Christmas adverts are coming out faster than Santa can eat the mince pies! Already Sainsbury’s, Argos, Very and Lidl’s have been released with John Lewis and Aldi also giving sneak peeks, and now Asda has launched its festive advert.
Meet Max, Gnibbles, Gnorma, Gnicky, and Gnarla—the pint-sized stars of Asda’s Christmas campaign! These cheeky heroes are on a mission to save Christmas and can’t wait to spread the cheer. In fact, they were so excited, they “leaked” Asda’s festive ad on social media for everyone to enjoy early!
Asda’s Christmas ad, crafted over seven months and using 3,000 hours of animation, is an epic, gnome-filled adventure set to The A Team’s classic theme.
The story begins with two Asda employees, Maggie and Bill, peering out at a snowstorm. Maggie worries about stocking up for Christmas, as all roads are closed, but Bill has a secret weapon: a gnome. With a press of its nose, the gnome lights up, signalling a squad of tiny, ceramic heroes across the nation to join the mission.
Enter Max, Gnibbles, Gnorma, Gnicky, and Gnarla—the gnomes on a mission to save Christmas! They arrive and transform the store into a festive wonderland, showcasing Asda’s seasonal goodies, from award-winning mince pies to party-perfect penguin bao buns, stylish sequins, and even gingerbread gnomes.
As dawn breaks, Max declares, “It’s time to go Gnome!” and the gnomes set off in Asda vans, leaving the store perfectly prepared. The ad closes with a spin on Chris Rea’s classic tune: Driving Gnome for Christmas.
Fans of these charming characters can buy the hero gnomes, available on shelves from November 7th, along with Asda’s beloved “Mrs. Claus” gnome.
