When it comes to Christmas tree trends, nobody has a better view than someone who grows and sells them for a living.

Trudy Hendy is part of the family team behind Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm. A 40-acre working plantation in Somerset that has been growing Christmas trees for over 20 years. We sat down with Trudy exclusively to get her expert predictions on what’s trending and what her customers are buying.

Trudy Hendy from Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm, which is based at Middle Hill Farm in Langford Budville, Somerset, said: “A very popular trend for Christmas decorations this year will be felhouseted animals. You’ll see a huge range including mice, foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels and pigs.

“When we visited the Spring Fair at the NEC in early February, which is a home and gift trade show that showcases next Christmas’ products, there were lots of these on display plus stunning natural garlands made from pine cones and berries. Gnomes are still in season for Christmas 2020, but mice are now taking over.

“In contrast to the woodland and animal themes, decorations in hot pinks will also be trending too. Plus, lots of glitter and sparkling baubles as well as hand blown glass decorations. Even tinsel is making a comeback. It’s funny how the trends do a full circle.

“Christmas also isn’t the same without the smells of the festive season and this year scented sticks and oils will be prevalent.”
