Will you drink over 22 Litres of Wine by Christmas 2018?

Clink, clink! UK set to drink more than 22 litres of wine per head by Christmas 2018 according to the world’s largest professional wine and spirits exhibition Vinexpo.

An estimated 1.54 billion bottles are to be consumed in the next five years and British drinkers are set to spend more on wine than the French, oh la la!

The increase on spending comes as wine drinkers are turning to more expensive bottles, including the very popular sparkling wine which sold over a eleven million cases last year. Did you have a bottle of something fizzy at Christmas? UnderTheChristmasTree certainly did!

White, Rose or Red?  It seems as though many households stuck with the nations favourite, White during the 2014 festive period, with over 636.2 million bottles being sold (and that’s not just inside Santa’s grotto!) however none of the three will hit their peaks of 2008 when white volume was up to a fizzing 720.2 million bottles.

Last Christmas supermarkets discounted a host of premium wines and champagne’s, lets just hope they do the same this 2015!

Will you be spending more this Christmas on wine?  Will you be trying a new variety of wine?  We would love to hear your comments so please do share them in the comments box below!
