Christmas in a mouthful – this is how the team described our winner Iceland’s mince pies. Crammed full of zesty and rich mincemeat you could really taste the citrus and festive spices throughout. Not overly sweet and had just the right amount of booze to give you that warm feeling. More-ish is an understatement!

Ticking all the boxes and giving off a homemade feel, our team felt that this was the best all-rounder when it comes to Christmas cakes. With an excellent cut, instantly you can smell the richness of the mixed peel, brandy and cognac. Spices such as cardamom and ginger gave this a real warmth. The marzipan and soft icing on the cake were delicious and the edible sugar decorations gave a lovely finish to the cake. One slice was not enough!

Our team absolutely adored this 6-month matured Christmas pudding, it had everything we would want from the get-go. Crammed with rich, boozy fruit and the whole candied orange slices that encase the pud had a lovely bite to them. We felt that you could really taste the vine fruits especially the orange and one bowl would not be enough! Looking for the showstopper? then ensure this is in your trolley this Christmas.

The first-place winner of our cheese category goes to this stunning square block from Tesco, we felt it looked extremely impressive with the cranberry sprinkles on top and its squared block design. On cutting the cheese it was smooth, creamy and crumbly, inside was a river of deep red cranberry sauce which certainly impressed us. It had aromas of Christmas and had a lovely taste, the cranberry was sweet and not too strong but definitely enough to make you say wow. If you’re looking for the cheeseboard show stopper make sure this is on your shopping list this Christmas.
