A slice of Christmas cake to welcome friends and family when they come into your home will put smiles on everyone’s faces.
This is why when it comes to the traditional Christmas cake we want to make sure our festive friends get the best. So once again we’ve gone and done all the “hard” work for you as we’ve tasted this year’s top Christmas cakes from some of the UK’s leading supermarkets and stores.
WINNER: Sainsbury’s Frosty Iced Fruit Cake, Taste the Difference, £11 – BUY HERE
The star of the show? It’s got to be Sainsbury’s Christmas cake! Dressed up with beautiful frosted snowflakes and a sprinkle of gold stars, it’s almost too gorgeous to eat—almost! As soon as you open the box, the rich scent of brandy and vine fruits fills the air, setting the holiday mood. This cake slices like a dream, holding together perfectly without any sticky mess. Inside, you’ll find a moist, fruit-packed wonderland with every bite full of plump, evenly distributed fruits. A true festive delight and a well-deserved winner in our book!
SECOND PLACE: Tesco Finest Rich Fruit Cake 907G, £10.50, BUY HERE
Tesco’s Christmas cake is a real crowd-pleaser! With a bold kick of Cognac and brandy, it brings just the right amount of festive cheer. A (large, naturally!) slice is more than satisfying, packed with sweet glacé cherries and cosy holiday spices. And the soft icing was easy to cut through.
Exceptional by ASDA Brandy-Soaked Fully Iced Fruit Cake 907g, £12, BUY HERE
Asda’s Christmas cake is packed with juicy sultanas and raisins, perfectly spread throughout so every bite brings that festive burst of flavour! The citrus peel shines through, adding a lovely zing, while the walnuts and almonds balance out the sweetness—making it easy to go back for a second slice (or maybe a third!). The marzipan is soft and just the right touch, not overpowering, and with a hint of brandy, it’s the perfect cake for a cold winter’s night.
