King Charles reflects on the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in his first Christmas Day broadcast. Watch his pre-recorded message here.

King Charles III’s first Christmas speech was broadcast on television at 3pm on Christmas Day 2022.

Charles delivered his pre-recorded message standing in St George’s Chapel in Windsor, where the Queen and Prince Philip are both buried. Footage of all the royal family, including the prince and princess of Wales, appeared on screen while he spoke.

The first Christmas Broadcast was delivered by George V in 1932 and in 1957 Queen Elizabeth II gave the first televised Christmas Message.
