Bad Weather In August To Encourage Shoppers Start Christmas Shopping?

eBay has revealed that bad weather in August could drive us all online to start our Christmas shopping.

Phuong Nguyen, director of eBay Advertising UK says: “If our Christmas Tracker shows one thing, it’s that there’s no longer a set gifting season in the months preceding Christmas. Consumers are shopping how and when they want to, and if bad weather turns shoppers’ attention to Christmas in the summer, they expect the freedom to start their purchase journey there and then.”

Referring to the trends last year in the midst of Hurricane Bertha, Christmas searches rose with an 82% surge in searches for ‘Christmas stocking’ on the 9th and 10th of August 2014.

With the August bank holiday coming up the weather does look mixed and may be a summer scorcher, so will Christmas searches increase? One thing’s for sure Christmas is on it’s way, so getting your shopping started early is always a good idea!
