BBC One has announced Superworm for Christmas 2021 with stars Olivia Colman and Matt Smith leading the star studded cast.

The ninth TV adaptation of a Donaldson/Scheffler title for BBC One and BBC iPlayer, Superworm is going to be one not to miss this Christmas. With HUGE stars including Olivia Coleman, Matt Smith, Patricia Allison and of course (for a 9th time) Rob Brydon lining up the first-rate voice cast.
Olivia Colman says: “This is such a lovely project to be involved with. When reading the script, and imagining all those goings on at the end of the garden, I could really get a feel for the pure fun and joy that the film will bring. I’ve always loved these charming productions at Christmas and I’m delighted to be voicing the narrator.”
A hero with a difference, Superworm is super-long and super-strong and is always on hand to help out other animals and insects with the help from his best friend Butterfly. When the Wicked Wizard Lizard hears of Superworm’s special skills, he sends his servant Crow to kidnap Superworm and it’s up to Butterfly to help convince the other creatures to help with her daring plan to rescue her best friend.
The creators of The Gruffalo and last years Zog and The Flying Doctors, Donaldson and Scheffler have once again collaborated on this animated half hour Christmas special of Superworm which will air Christmas Day.
