BBC One and Magic Light Pictures announced the animated adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s children’s book Zog And The Flying Doctors for Christmas 2020.
Zog is back for Christmas 2020!
After the roaring success of Zog in 2018, the new half-hour animated production will see Zog, Pearl and Gadabout flying as a flying doctor trio, caring for creatures including a mermaid, a unicorn and a sneezy lion. However, when bad weather forces them to land at the palace, Pearl is locked up by her uncle, the king. Zog and Gadabout try to set her free. However, when their attempts fail, Pearl has to come up with the best way of all to regain her freedom.
Leading the cast of this year’s empowering and enchanting Donaldson and Scheffler sequel for BBC One, Zog And The Flying Doctors will include: Sir Lenny Henry who will lead the cast as the Narrator, joined by Rob Brydon as King, Patsy Ferran as Princess Pearl, Hugh Skinner as Zog, Daniel Ings as Sir Gadabout, Mark Bonnar as Unicorn, Lucian Msamati as Lion and Alexandra Roach as Mermaid.
Sir Lenny Henry, who also narrated the BBC One 2018 adaptation of Zog, says: “These Donaldson and Scheffler productions are so magical, it’s a joy to be able to lend my voice to such fun and beautiful animations at Christmas. Zog’s continued story is one of teamwork and empowerment, things we all need more of these days.”
