Christmas Gift Idea: Festive Fun With Ravensburger Labyrinth

Ravensburger’s game ‘Labyrinth’ is the exciting game that children ages 7+ are bound to have on their wishlists for Santa this Christmas which is why we thought we would put it to the test here at UTCT.

We were kindly sent ‘Labyrinth’ by Ravensburger to try out, here’s what we thought of the game:

Ravensburger Labyrinth is the race for treasures in the moving maze where players must shift the maze to make a clear path to escape with all of the treasure.

To play, players must take turns to search the Labyrinth to find the magical objects & characters. Sounds pretty easy? well the whole time players are moving through the ‘maze’, it is constantly moving and changing paths.

We sent John and Elaine off to play the game.  Elaine said:

“It was actually pretty tricky trying to figure out how to play the game but once we had it set up it became pretty obvious. The maze is all a bit daunting and I was already trying to figure out how I could win before the game had even begun. We placed all of the maze cards into the Labyrinth apart from one card which made a random pathway of treasure. We dealt the cards equally (face down) and kept them close to our chests. I was chosen to play first, so I took the first card from the top of the pile which revealed a treasure.

The challenge was to find that treasure first before moving onto another card. I found the treasure by moving the cards along the pathway and used the spare card in one of the marked points.  A new card was pushed out at the opposite end of the pathway which was the spare card that John used for his turn.  It took us about 45 minutes to complete and was actually a lot of fun, even though I lost. I’m not happy about the gloating John has been doing for the entire afternoon.”

“Elaine is a bad loser and kindly told me I was on Santa’s bad list this Christmas. Little does she know that I have special connections up there and won’t be finding any coal under my Christmas Tree this year! She’d best hope I’m not her secret Santa this year for the office Christmas party!

All jokes aside, It was a brilliant game and will definitely keep the kids (and adults!) entertained this Christmas. It doesn’t need batteries and is suitable for 2-4 players (aged 7+). Once we figured out how to play the game, it was a lot of fun moving the walls and navigating through the maze to find the treasure. Did I mention that I won? Sorry Elaine!”

Included in the game are:

  • 1x Game Board
  • 34x Maze Cards
  • 24x Treasure Cards
  • 4x Playing Pieces
