Christmas Special for Michael McIntyre’s Big Show?

BBC One confirms the return of hit Saturday night variety show ‘Michael McIntyre’s Big Show’ but should we expect a Christmas special?

After a three year break, celebrities may want to hide their mobile phones as Michael McIntyre returns with his Big Show.

Fans of the spectacular entertainment show will see the TV presenter once again surprising celebrities with Celebrity Midnight Gameshow, the hilarious Send To All will be back and of course, one very Unexpected Star of the Show will be shocked.

Michael McIntyre says: “Three long years of no Unexpected Stars, of me not getting my hands on a single celebrity’s mobile phone, of people sleeping soundly without fear of me sneaking into their bedrooms. Well, the wait is over, the Big Show is back and we’ve used those three years to think of even bigger surprises and bigger laughs!

“And, as well as making stars of the unsuspecting public on the Big Show, I will be making another series of the show that literally revolves around me! Yes! The Wheel is spinning back too! I’m elated that both shows are so beloved and returning to BBC One.”

The show first aired as a one-off Christmas special in 2015 and was hit with viewers from the get-go. The BBC then commissioned the first full run in 2016. It started airing in April 2016 and concluded the month later. The most recent fifth season aired in 2019 and was filmed at the London Palladium.

When will Michael McIntyre’s Big Show air?

Although no date has been confirmed, the BBC has said details will be shared very soon, but if we go on previous shows, we could be looking at a November date.

Which celebrity guests will be part of the show?

Again, no specific famous faces have been confirmed however it’s likely to include some of BBC’s well-known stars, perhaps a few Strictly Come Dancing professionals? and we’re bound to see the odd comedian – maybe Rob Brydon? we’ll keep you posted.
