Christmas To Be Cancelled In Torquay?

Businesses in Torquay have been warned that Christmas will be cancelled if this year’s 2015 Christmas is not financially supported..

Torquay’s very own “Mr Christmas” Steve Holdup and Mike Bailey (Torbay Carnival Chairman) have set up a campaign to help the town to celebrate Christmas in style, which will include the return of the parade and carnival for the first time in five years.

However, if businesses are not willing to support the Christmas festivities this year, it seems that the future of Christmas in Torquay is in jeopardy.

Steve Holdup said:

“I don’t mean to cause alarm, but unless we do something, then there will be no Christmas this year.  I have been synonymous with Christmas for 30 years and I have the drive to see something happen, but there is no plan B. There will be no Christmas.”

He continued by saying:

“I am passionate about wanting to see this work. We want people to have a reason to come into the town, not just for shopping. We are asking all businesses, small or large, right across the board, to help. If everyone can contribute what they feel they would like to we will acknowledge them as a sponsor”

Many different events are in the pipeline including Santa arriving at his Grotto, a concert with school choirs and even a fairground for all the family to enjoy.
