Pickin’ Chickens is designed for 2-4 players aged 4+.  The game encourages children to spin the field in the hope that the jack-in-a-box Fox will not spring out of the tree stump to lose you a chicken.

Players must then try to remember the colours of the chickens under the other players coops in order to know where to look at the next turn to find the colours they need to win. The winner must save one chicken of each colour in order to win but all is not as straight forward as it seems, as if the fox jumps out you ALL lose a chicken.

We sent Elaine and John off to play Pickin’ Chickens.

Judging by the hilarity we could hear throughout the offices, it seems that John & Elaine had a whale of a time playing Pickin’ Chickens.

John said ‘Every time the fox sprang out, Elaine jumped about three feet in the air. This game might be designed for children but I can tell you first hand that we had just as much fun playing this as the kids do!”

Speaking of it’s Educational: Fun Ratio, Elaine said:

“Before playing this game, we had decided that I would focus on the educational side of it.  I found myself struggling to remember the colour of the chickens under Johns coops. Aside from that, I was having so much fun I had forgotten all of the skills I was using to play. I was counting, taking turns with my opponent and using my memory more than I had realised. This is definitely equally as much  fun as it is educational and will be great for keeping the kids entertained over Christmas”.

Apparently, John says he won the game, but Elaine reckons that she did. Calm down children, calm down!

The box contains:

  • Rotating Game Base
  • 16 Chickens (4 red, 4 blue, 4 green, 4 yellow)
  • 12 Chicken coops
  • 5 Cards
  • Instructions
